Dead at 106: Oldsmobile
The last car from America's oldest car company rolls off the line Thursday in Lansing, Mich.

Olds says it was the first company to mass-produce cars -- not Ford -- and that it pioneered the use of chrome and automatic transmissions in American cars.

DETROIT (Dec. 12) - In another sign of trouble among Detroit automakers, General Motors Corp. Tuesday said it would phase out Oldsmobile, America's oldest automotive brand, cut nearly 4 percent of its worldwide work force and warned that it would miss profit forecasts.
